Royston Australia’s Niigata Expertise Ensures Tug’s Bollard Pull Success

Royston Australia received a phone call to assist a Niigata 6L26HLX powered tug, which was days away from hopefully achieving a bollard pull for class before moving on to its new port and contract.

We assisted the crew to overhaul the 14-year-old vessel’s coolers and one of our technicians sailed with the team from Gladstone to Brisbane to monitor equipment temperatures and pressures. RA was tasked with flagging any concerns and rectifying any issues prior to the tug’s bollard pull testing.

RA operations manager Jack Clark, who is Niigata factory trained, joined the crew on board during the bollard pull to provide additional technical support. The customer was very happy with our effective and timely support and even happier to see the tug go on to achieving a similar bollard pull to what it achieved as new.
