Niigata Engine Health Check
Our client’s tug was ashore for its 15-year docking and though the major service was not due, they decided on an interim routine inspection, given the vessel was already out of the water.
Workscope
We undertook unit inspections on both Niigata 6L25HX engines, pulling out cylinder heads, pistons and conrods, main bearings, fuel pumps, water pumps and the lube oil pump. Everything was stripped down, cleaned and components were serviced, new parts were supplied and fitted where required. A new shaft was installed, fuel racks reset and a sea trial conducted.
Value Added Services
As authorised Niigata agents and with engine manufacturer trained engineers our team were first choice for our client, combined with our local facilities to support with lifting equipment which the client did not have access to.
Result
The service report we produced for the client highlighted the condition of the engine which has helped form their parts list for the upcoming major service.
